meet the founder

Being born in the swamps of Louisiana, I’ve always joked that being a Swamp Witch was sort of a birthright for me. From a very young age, I’ve had a deep, spiritual connection to plants. I remember being a small child–barely old enough to go to school–and I had an incredible affinity for plant and anything related to flowers. I would collect them, wear them, and give them to friends and teachers alike. I always said I was going to be a Botanist, and this desire to root myself in the world continued to grow stronger as I got older. Whenever I would play video games or roleplay as a character in tabletop RPGs, if there was the possibility of wielding plants or floral magic then I took it without hesitation. Even in games such as Pokémon, the Grass-Types were always some of my favorite.

Around the age of 13, I received my very first Tarot deck and I was instantly enamored in the world of esotericism. Already struggling with my religious upbringing, I devoted myself to learning as much as I could about the cards, eventually expanding into stones, candles, and tea leaves. It was then that the seeds of my spirituality were planted and after years of cultivation, they’ve grown into what you see today.

Where it started...

Solanum Botanicals was always within me.

the birth of...

I am currently residing in Louisiana and attending graduate school at Louisiana State University, pursuing a degree in Horticulture—my goal is to develop a scientific foundation that coincides with my spiritual work. It is my core belief that science and spirituality work together to create a harmonious balance within ourselves, and Solanum Botanicals was birthed from that belief.

Why I Do It...

Born from my desire to create a community for those who wish to deepen their understanding of both themselves and the spiritual world around them, Solanum Botanicals serves as a vessel to help others grow in their crafts. From a growing selection of handcrafted tea blends to educational blogs on both spirituality and horticulture, my aim is to help everyone in this community reach into the depths of their spiritual journeys.

In short, Community.

My favorite flower is the Marigold, and I tend to favor plants that represent different aspects of Death and Loss.

I am a Libra Sun, Aquarius Moon, and Libra Rising. Air and Water fill my chart–a trait that will become clear the more you get to know me.

In addition to my other hobbies, I am also an aspiring novelist! I hope to publish my first YA novel in 2023.

I have worked in Tea and Coffee for just shy of eight years now and consider myself an expert in both the cultivation and craft of both.

A recurring symbol of mine is the Rougarou–something you will learn has played a huge role in my life. The Rougarou–a werewolf of sorts in Cajun culture–can be found represented in various aspects of my life, including a tattoo!

Every single plant I own has a name! With over 70 plants . . . that’s a lot of naming but I make it a point to remember them all and speak to them all frequently.

I consider my favorite foods to be ramen, curry, and any type of soup or stew I can get my hands on. Hearty dishes that warm the soul are my specialty <3
